The Good Times

I remember being a child, growing and not having to worry about anything.  There were only a few simple rules and if you didn't follow those rules, you knew the consequences.  After years of hating my parents for being so hard on me, I realized that they didn't do anything that a parent shouldn't do.  They wanted the best for me and always tried to bring it out in me.
Today parents get so wrapped up in making sure the child thinks of them as their friend they forget to be a parent. Why are we so afraid as parents to discipline our children, if more parents made sure their children knew the rules and the reasons for those rules our society would not be heading down the slippery slope it is today.
Why do we feel the need to blame someone else when our child does something wrong, it's your responsibility as a parent to make sure that your offspring does the right thing, not anyone else's.  Did we grow up and forget that we are supposed to treat others as we would want to be treated.  I don't think it's so much a case of forgetfulness as it is a case of I don't care anymore.  Why is that?  What happened to this country, what happened to the days of taking care of your fellow man?  Since when is a child in a third world country more important then the child from a broken home just trying to get a better education, or a meal?  Where has our compassion and common sense gone? 

My grandma Roxie used to say, take care of your own before you worry about everyone else.  I don't see why that shouldn't hold true today.  So let's get of this aura of self importance and look for others that we can help directly.  Every little bit helps, you may not see it, but it helps someone, somewhere.

Where do I begin??

With so many issues dooming our country these days, where should I begin?
1.  While I understand the "Princess Syndrome", what is the fascination with the royal wedding?  It has no bearing on any single American I know.
2.  The "Royal Wedding" versus Dead Americans, tell me what means the most to you?
3.  Big Oil posts record profits against rising gas prices, who is to blame?
4.  Lobbyists and your elected officials, if you don't know who controls your votes then you need to wake up.

     What's the first topic for discussion this time, I am open to any and all things you have to input.  Just let me know what you would like to hear and I will do my best to make the most informed argument I can for or against your side of the story.
